To renew the sleeping coaches, the DRG ordered in 1923 10 new sleeping coaches 1/2 class by Linke-Hofmann-Lauchhammer and Wumag. The coaches were constructed as the coaches of type Bauart 1923. The first service of these coaches was in the sleeper D 15/16 Berlin-Köln and in D 1/2 Berlin-Frankfurt/M. The coaches had 10 compartments of 1655 or 1305 mm wide, the walls between the coaches were not placed at right angles to the sidewalls of the coach, otherwise each compartment had the same surface. Only the wide was varying. The coaches had one conductor compartment, 2 wash compartments, 2 entrance compartments and one side corridor. In total there were 10 first class seats and 20 second class seats.
The compartments could be transformed to one big compartment by means of a door in the wall between two compartments. Each compartment was provided with a wash facilities with mirrors. The lowest bed could be folded to a couch. Under the window was room for luggage.
There were in total 10 coaches built of this type and they were delivered in 1923 and 1924. The coaches had a length of 21.500 mm with the buffers included and were 2870 mm wide. The weight was 48,0 ton and the bogies were of the American type. Coach 0339 was exhibited in 1924 on the " Eisenbahntechnischen Austellung" in Seddin.
The coaches were rented by Mitropa from the DSG from 1 June 1926.
