This type of sleeping coach was ordered in 1937 by Mitropa. These coaches were constructed like the construction of Bauart 1937. The coaches were equiped with bogies of type "Görlitz III schwer". In the same year, a similar series of coaches was ordered (39 001-012), but then for third class passengers only.
