These type of coaches were entirely second class. The coaches had an open compartment with 41 seats and no closed compartments. The coaches were built in 1928 and had an seats arrangement of 2+1. The weight of the coaches was 52,8 ton.
In 1929 there were three additional coaches built of this type, the coaches got the indication SB 4ü-29.
In 1934, three coaches SB 4ü-28 (numbers: 10 704/706/710) were rebuilt and got an extra first class compartment and a kitchen. Their indication was changed in SAB 4ük 28/34 but their numbers remained unchanged. The interiors existed of 24 seats second class in an open compartment and one first class closed compartment with room for four passengers, and two first class closed compartments with room for two passengers each.
Coach 24 508 (10 708) is nowadays the property of the Swiss travel agency Mittelthurgau. The interior of this coach was not original anymore and was changed in closed compartments which was usual in the fifties. Only the original inscriptions and colours are preserved. The coach is not used anymore and a couple of windows are removed. At the moment the coach stays at the freight station of Freiburg (Breisgau). Coach SAB 4ük 28/34 with number 10 706 is sold to Intraflug.
