This coach was the luggage coach of the Rheingold. In total there are three luggage coaches built for the Rheingold. The coaches were 19,68 meter long and had a weight of 41,2 ton. According to the regulations it was not allowed to couple salon coaches directly behind the locomotive, because reasons of safety there had to be placed a luggage coach behind the locomotive. To avoid too much shunting, because the route of the Rheingold had many endstations, the train got at both ends a luggage coach.

Luggage coach 105 001 is later sold to the Verein Braunschweiger Verkehrsfreunde (VBV). In 1990 this coach had an accident, the frame was bent and the DB does not permit this coach anymore of her railtracks. Unfortunately the historical trains have to do it without this violet luggage coach.
