BR 17.8

The steam locomotives of type XII H1 were the third version of the 2'C superheated steam locomotives ordered by the Saxon State Railways between 1906 and 1909. Hartmann delivered in 1909 7 locomotives of type XII H1 with the numbers: 15 up to 21. In comparison with other steam locomotives, these locomotives achieved the lowest coal consumption for "zwillings" and "vierlings" steam locomotives. After the first world war the locomotives with the numbers: 15, 16 and 21 were going to France.

In service at the DRG

The DRG took over all four locomotives and put them into service as BR 17.8 with the numbers: 17 801 up to 17 804.
