BR 18.4-5
The Bay. S 3/6 was purchased again in 1923. The direction of Bavarian got from the DRG permission to purchase a continuation series of this steam locomotive. At that time there was a need for express train locomotives, also because there were not yet standard design locomotives.
Maffei delivered in 1923 and 1924 the series k with in total 30 locomotives, who were entering serice in 1925 at the DRG with the numbers: 18 479 up to 18 508. The changes of constructions were in comparison with the previous series: the missing of a windshield on the cabin. The last locomotive of the series k, locomotive 18 508 is standing nowadays in the museum of Kraus-Maffei in München.
