E 16


Krauss and BCC built in the beginning of the twenties ten electric locomotives meant for the express train services on the electrified mainlines of Bavarian. The first six locomotives were delivered in 1926 and 1927 and got the indication ES 1 with the numbers 21000 up to 21006. The four locomotives which were following got the indication E 16 07 up to E 16 10. In 1927 the series ES 1 became E 16 01 up to E 16 06. A second series was delivered in 1928 and 1929 to the Bw München Hbf, this were the locomotives E 16 11 up to E 16 18. The locomotives had 90 kW more power than the other E 16 locomotives. The E 16 locomotives were only in service in the Southern part of Germany.
