E 16

After the war, there were 12 locomotives in a relative good condition. Two locomotives were set aside and another three were brought back into service by the DB in 1946. Later for historical purposes the locomotives E 16 07, E16 08 and the E 16 09 are preserved.

At the beginning of the sixties the E 16 locomotives were mainly in service from Kufstein in international trains and F-train between Kufstein and München and Salzburg. Later the locomotives were replaced by the new E 10 and E 18 locomotives. The E 16 locomotives were mainly in service in eilzüge and local trains.

From Kufstein the locomotives went into service in the F 9/10 "Rheingold-Express" and the F 21/22 "Rheinpfeil", as well as the F 5/6 "Orient Express" and the D 81/82 "Alpen-Express".
