Coaches Bauart 1921

The first express train coaches were the coaches of Bauart 1921. The coaches of this type had all the same dimensions, namely 19.310 mm long and 20.610 mm long with the buffers. The coaches were longer than all the up to then produced coaches, but retained the same weight with the same equipment. The construction of the coaches was according to the Prussian-Hessian model.

The air resistance was lowered by the smaller coach ends. The coaches got a heating installation of type "Pintsch 1920", electrical lighting and high air pressure brakes of type "Kunze Knorr S".

C4ü-21

The Reichsverkehrsministerium (RVM) requested the Eisenbahn-Zentralamt (EZA) on 27 Oktober 1921 to built 20 express train coaches third class according to the guidelines set by the committee of standard design coaches.The coaches were built in Fahrzeugprogramm 1921 and got a bogie distance of 13.680 mm. In 1922 the first 27 coaches were delivered. In Fahrzeugprogramm 1922 were again five coaches C4ü-21 built, but with a bogie distance of 13.180 mm, also the roof of these coaches was a little higher at the ends. The coaches had a weight of 41,3 ton and were equiped with bogies of the American type.

The coaches had 1560 mm wide compartments with wooden benches. In total there were 10 compartments where one compartment was a half compartment. The compartments had sliding doors to the corridor, luggage nets, wooden armrests at the window and corridor side, linoleum floor covering and electrical light. At both sides of the coach was a toilet with flowing water.

The coaches were set aside in 1962.

C4ü-21a

In the same request as for the C4ü-21, there was an order for the C4ü-21a. This coach was built in Fahrzeugprogramm 1921 and delivered in 1924. Specifications are equel to the C4ü-21.
