Coaches Bauart 1923


Coaches of type Bauart 1923 has almost similar characteristics and features as coaches of Bauart 1922.

A4ü-23


To carry passengers to and from the ferries of Hapag and Lloyd, the DRG ordered 6 first class coaches by Wumag. The coaches were accommodated at the directors of Altona and Hannover. The maintenance stations of these coaches were Cuxhaven and Bremen Hbf. The coaches were 19.310 mm long and 20.610 mm long, buffers included. The coaches had 7 compartments, each 2100 mm long. First there was a total of 42 seats and later there were 48 seats available in the coaches. The coaches had a weight of 42,4 ton. The coaches were equiped with bogies of the American type.

AB4ü-23


After delivering 7 test coaches AB4ü-23b in 1923, they made 31 coaches of type AB4ü-23. This coach was first and second class and had 12 seats in the first class and 33 seats in the second class. The coaches had a weight of 43 ton and were equiped with bogies of the American type. The coaches 11 211 and 11 209 got in 1931 and 1933 a telephone installation. These installation was installed within the framework of tests of the DRG to examine the use of telephones in trains. The installation was accommodated in the half first class compartment, so the number of seats first class were reduced to 8 seats. The coaches AB4ü-23 were set aside in 1965. Coach 11 250 got in 1928 bogies of type "Görlitz IIs", this coach was set aside in 1933.

AB4ü-23a


The coaches AB4ü-23a were the second series first/second class express train coaches after the test coaches AB4ü-23b made in Fahrzeugprogramm 1923. The coaches AB4ü-23a distinguished from the coaches AB4ü-23 by a changed ventilation system. Also coaches 11 253, 11 256 and 11 257 had bogies of type "Görlitz I". In 1927 coach 11 254 was used for tests with train telephone.

AB4ü-23b


The 7 coaches AB4ü-23b were delivered as test coaches for the series AB4ü-23 and AB4ü-23a. The AB4ü-23b got two compartments first class and 5 1/2 compartments second class. The 43 ton weighing coaches had a length of 19.310 mm and 20.610 mm with the buffers included. Coach 11 206 was equiped with bogies "Görlitz I".

To develop the construction of the third class coaches further, the DRG ordered a new series of third class coaches. These coaches had ventilators located in the corridors, and the compartments had wider folding tables. The coaches had 9 1/2 compartments with a total of 76 seats. The coaches had a weight of 41 ton and were equiped with bogies of the American type. In 1938 the coaches 16 083 and 16 085-088 got a kitchen.

Pw4ü-23


The coaches Pw4ü-23 were the first luggage coaches in the standard design coaches development program. That is why this series of 10 coaches was a experimental series. Because there was no need for more room, the luggage coaches were shorter than the passenger coaches, namely 17.540 mm long and 18.840 mm long with the buffers included. The coaches got a service compartment, a 11.395 mm long cargo deck, two dog kennels and two entrance compartments. The coaches had at one side a dome where they could overlook the whole train. The coaches had a weight of 33,1 ton and were equiped with bogies of type "Prussian Regeldrehgestell". Coach 105 103 was exhibited in 1924 on the "Eisenbahntechnischen Ausstellung" in Seddin. Coach 105 108 got later bogies of type "Görlitz IIs".
