From the four coaches SA 4ü-28 which were built in epoch II only one coach survived the war. This coach entered service in D-trains in the Western zones after the war. In 1951 the coach was transformed to a dining coach and rented to the DSG (Deutsche Schlafwagen- und Speisewagen Gesellschaft) which was founded in 1949. The coach got the DSG number 1232 and the indication WR4üg(e) 28/51. The number was changed in the sixties to 10 232. With the rebuild to dining coach the coach was also provided with the new so-called "Gummiwülste" coach corridors instead of the old "Faltenbälge" coach corridors.

The coach had 30 seats in the dining. It got the red DSG colors in 1951. Around 1968 the coach got the new UIC number 51 80 88-46 232-1. Then also the type indication was changed to WRüg(e) 151. The coach had a maximum speed of 140 km/h and could be heated with steam and could also use the following tensions: 1000 V 17Hz AC, 1500 V 50Hz AC or 1500V DC.

In 1970 the coach was taken out of service and was bought by the FEK (Freundeskreis Eisenbahn Köln e.V.). The FEK renovated the coach in 1971. The coach is nowadays used in museum trains, it has number 51 80 08-43 022-6. It had it's last main overhaul in May 2001. (See also the website of the FEK).

After the war the three Rheingold luggage coaches were located in the Western zones. From 1947 the coaches were used in international trains like the "Nord Express". With the construction of new luggage coaches in the sixties these pre war luggage coaches were used less, until they ended up in the "Nahverkehr" trains (low graded passenger trains) around Dortmund, Hagen (Westfalen) and Köln.

The three pre war Rheingold luggage coaches remained their old numbers and were also used as luggage coaches in D-trains. The coaches were suitable for speeds of 140 km/h and could be heated with steam or 1000 V 17 Hz AC. The DB changed a few things, for example the doghouses and customs compartments were removed. Later also the characteristic "kanzel" on top of the coaches was removed. The color of the coaches was chrome-oxide green (RAL 6020), the roof was grey colored (RAL 7022). In 1961 the type indication changed to D4ü-28, the numbers remained the same.

They reinstalled the "kanzel" on the roof and painted the coach in the original violet color. Also the original inscriptions came back. The coach was furnished in consideration of the use in museum trains. For example the coach had some seats for the staff which accompanied the train. The lavatory and former staff compartment was removed. The coach is suitable for speeds of 140 km/h and meets the directives set by the RIC. The coach has number 50 80 09-43 012-8.
